Two losses this week to two experienced teams. That is what it comes down to right now. Teams and systems that have been together for years and years versus a team that has played 9 games together. This will be a tough road but come January/February, when things are clicking, you watch out. Championships are not won and lost in November. This team has too much talent. Where they start in the playoffs will not matter. As long as they are holding the trophy in the end is all that matters.
Pat Riley says judge them after 20 games. We are not even half way there!
What do you have to say?
Take a survey. Respond to a post. Let's make this an incredible journey throughout the HEAT season.

New Radio home for the Heat
Congrats to 790theticket for becoming the new flagship station of the Miami Heat today. It's a great station with wonderful hosts who will do a great job covering the Heat this year and beyond. Check out 790theticket.com to follow the station.
Pat Riley indicated in an interview today that they will wait 20-25 games to assess the roster but they are not opposed to making moves to make improvements.
Heat face two top point guards this week in Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo. Let's see if Coach Spo can figure out a plan to cover these guys so they don't go off on double digit assists.

So what have we learned so far???
Well...1) You definitely win games in the NBA by playing defense. The Heat have not allowed an opponent to score over 100 points so far this year.
2) Don't foul LeBron with a flagrant. Just makes him madder. Be forewarned.
3) DWade is getting back in to NBA form real quickly. He also has that big smile back on his face when he was enjoying the games. Watch out NBA if he stays happy.
4) Don't get LeBron mad - nuff said.
5) One can only imagine what this team will look like when Mike Miller returns in January.
6) Did I mention about getting LeBron mad??? Just curious
7) Elite point guards will give them trouble. Rondo 17 assist. CP3 19 assist.
Here are the next 5 games and their point guard potential:
Utah - Deron Williams. Top point guard which could lead to trouble.
Boston - Rondo again
Toronto - Not sure I can name 5 players on the entire team.
Phoenix - Steve Nash - no comment
Charlotte - Should be no problem.
Tune in to find out where they end up after the next 5 games.

Dunks-a-lot
If you ever wanted to put together a highlight reel of amazing dunks, you can start with the game tonight. Lebron in the open court. LeBron behind the back to Wade. And then and open court alley-oop that had the entire city shaking.
But better than that was the high body slam between Wade and LeBron. You can just see the excitement in both of their faces after that. Keep the cameras rolling as I think there are going to be a lot more highlight dunks like the ones tonight.
Also..don't piss LeBron off with flagrant fouls. 8 points in 32 seconds. You asked for it.
Tuesday night versus Utah and then the big early rematch versus Boston on Thursday.
Go Heat.

You win some you lose some
Tough loss to New Orleans tonight. You can't win every game and losing definitely builds character. New Orleans played a great game. The kind of game they needed to play to beat this team.
Double Double for LeBron and Wade. Defense holds to under 100 again. No team has gone over 100 points as of yet. New Jersey is next then the first big rematch with Boston on Thursday.

The Big Easy
Sounds like the Heat season so far. Big and Easy! Onto New Orleans for a Friday Night game vs. CP3. It's going to be a pick and roll night defensively for the Heat. Chris Paul creates alot of offense but everyone forgets that the Heat's offense is pretty good as well.
Back-to-back after that with New Jersey visiting the Arena on Saturday Night then the Jazz come to town.
Looks like another set of 3 victories. When will they lose again??? Maybe never!

Let's be like the Academy Awards!
The Heat needs seat fillers! Too many empty seats watching the game. If people are expected to arrive early and be in their seats, what happens when they don't? First of all, the way the Heat are playing, you are only going to see Three-0-5 for the first half and maybe some of the 3rd quarter. If they're leading by 20+ points, people won't stay.
I say, when the people who can afford tickets leave the arena, they give them to real fans waiting outside. They can then sit in those seats and watch the balance of the game! What a novel idea. That way all the seats will be filled until the end of the game, when it matters least, but when the real fans are screaming their lungs out.
We need seat fillers. Start a website now and let's get this done!

Thanks for playing!
Kudos to our amazing Heat team cruising to another blowout victory. Holding another opponent under 100 points. I know it was not the best effort defensively but how about that offense. And.....they've only been together for 5 games. LeBron dishing 12 assists????
Get on the train Miami fans. This is going to be a fun ride. Just wait until they actually install an offense!
Friday versus New Orleans will be a test but then New Jersey and Utah before the big rematch verse the big green uglies from Beantown. November 11th. Be there!

Who made this schedule?
Now that the buzz around the league is that the Heat defense is scary good, you have to look at the next batch of games and wonder when they will lose again? Giving up only 81 points per game? The next 7 of 8 are home games where they can play off the crowds. Maybe Boston poses a challenge but that will be the first rematch game of the Season opener. Don't think they want to lose to Boston again.
Anyway, the biggest challenge facing this team is keeping fans in their seats for the second half. The last two games had 20 point leads for the ENTIRE 4th quarter. How are Miami fans going to stay for these blowouts when South Beach is so close?
Only time will tell. For now, chalk up a victory over New Jersey, an interesting game vs. New Orleans on Friday and then 6 straight at home.

Happy Birthday Coach Spo!
Born November 1, 1970, Coach Spoelstra is turning 40 tomorrow. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he responded with LeBron, Bosh and Dwade. Wait....he alreadyh as that!
Another blowout win to a far superior team again today. The key stat, again being, only 78 points given up. After the first loss to Boston, they have given up 80 or less points the other 3 games. Hard to lose when you defense is playing so well.
Michael Beasley is next then an away game to the Big Easy. They return for New Jersey and an early rematch with the Celtics looms on the horizon.
Happy Birthday Coach Spo! Many more!

Happy Heat Halloween
The Heat play a 1PM game in New Jersey tomorrow. Check out this photo on the front of the New Jersey Nets home page.
Not sure if it's funny or if I am annoyed. Either way, this should be an easy W for the Heat as they prepare for their big reunion game with Michael Beasley this week. I am sure all of the head shops in South Florida are looking forward to his return.

Be scared....Be very scared!
If this game was any indication of what is about to happen, the NBA better be scared. Lost to Celtics by 5 points with a non-chemistry performance. Now, we blow out the Magic by 26!!! Were they even in the building? I always thought they were over-rated but they showed nothing tonight.
14-0 run to start the 3rd quarter just killed Orlando. This can get very scary. Here is what is upcoming for this Heat team....Here are the next 10 games
New Jersey
Minnesota
New Orleans
New Jersey
Utah
Boston
Toronto
Phoenix
Charlotte
Memphis.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....I would think the Celtics would be the toughest game but that is now a total revenge game here in Miami. Can they be 12-1 after the next 10 games????
I say. Be Scared....Be Very Scared!

Home Sweet Home!
The Home opener is less than 24 hours away. Traffic has already picked up in downtown as people have been asked to arrive early. I hope they realize the game is at 7:30 PM, not AM.
Don't forget Black is Back. Dress in all black clothes and make some serious noise. It should be a playoff atmosphere in the Arena tomorrow night. Look for celebrities galore with the Friday Night South Beach crowd!
After Orlando, the next games are New Jersey, Minnesota, New Orleans than 6 straight at home beginning with New Jersey again.
Just wait until this team starts to get to know each other better. It is going to be out of this world!

And oh by the way......
The Celtics lost to Cleveland tonight. I don't think I need to say anything else. 81-1.
Now you're talking
A very nice victory, although easy, puts the Heat in the win column. In another week or 2, when they are sitting at 10-1, we will all forget the Boston game last night.
DWade was on fire and James Jones, well, that's we they brought you in to do. Hit the open 3's when they are there. And they will be there. DWade looks like he got his legs back. LeBron does not need to go 110% every night and the defense is getting better.
I think most people will over look the defensive side but last night they gave up 88 points and tonight 87 points. You keep those numbers in that range and you are not going to lose very many games.
Home opener this Friday verse the illusionists from Orlando. Place should be rocking! Go Heat!

Win..Lose.....No Matter!
So the final outcome was not what we had hoped for. However, I think playing only 1 half of basketball, after playing only 3 minutes together in pre-season, the Heat showed alot.
Here is what I liked: LeBron James in a Heat uniform. Joel Anthony clearing the boards early. Udonis doing the dirty work. Eddie House's intensity. Big Z filling the lanes.
Here is what I did not like: Where did Joel Anthony go? The defense that looks the same as last year leaving great shooters open for 3 point shots. Missing open jumpers. If we can't hit the jumpers after the penetration and dish, it will be a long season. DWade being so rusty. No point guard at all.
I figured on a 72-10 season with the 10 losses coming to splits with Boston, Orlando, Lakers, etc. Chalk this up as one loss. They play in Philly tomorrow, home for Orlando on Friday and then plenty of games verse the dregs of the NBA.
It was a great game. They almost pulled it off. They have alot to be proud of and can finally move on beyond the circus and get down to real business.

Halftime
So what have we learned? Missing way too many shots. DWade missing for most of pre-season has affected chemistry. No real need for a point guard. Bosh needs to hit more shots.
But.........this team looks great. You can see this team jelling over the course of the season. It's 82 games and this is just game 1. Maybe a big comeback the second half but not to worry. They'll beat Philly tomorrow, crush Orlando on Friday and away they go.
Relax Heat fans. Let the country enjoy this now. We'll enjoy the rest of the season.

End of 1st quarter.
9 points. Don't panic. It's a long season. Wade looks rusty but he'll get his legs soon. I love Lebron being booed over and over. He'll be there in the end.
It's Game Time
The longest pre-season in NBA/Heat history is finally over. Let the Games Begin! I'll be tweeting throughout the night and blogging every now and then. Enjoy the ride!!!!

Final Roster is set
Sorry to see Butler and Beverley go. Good feeling that Butler will be back later in the year when the injury is fully rehabbed. It's now Showtime! Tip-off tomorrow night in Boston verse the Big Shamrock and the aging Celtics. Start making the popcorn now as we have 81 more after that.
Let the Games Begin!

2 Days to Go!
Opening night is just 2 days away. What a journey from the Free Agency decisions to now. It is still hard to believe that the Heat opening nigh roster will have LeBron, DWade and Chris Bosh. Get ready and get psyched for a great season.
But the season does not end on Tuesday. The next night they travel to Philly to play the Sixers. Seems that game falls under the radar this week. Everyone is looking forward to the home opener on Friday night but we need to beat the Sixers first before we can dispose of the Magic.
Don't forget to be in your seats early and Make Some Noise!
Let's go Heat.

Take a breath!
Wow. Only 3 days until opening night and things are going a million miles an hour. DWade is back with the team. LeBron is getting threatening tweets. Mike Miller is out until January. The Heat sign Jerry Stackhouse.
We all need to take a breath. You can't read the news fast enough before it changes at the speed of light.
I think Israel Gutierrez at the Miami Herald had a great article today. Be Patient! Slow Down. No championships are won on October 26th. The team has yet to play more than 3 minutes together. Now that Mike Miller is out, we won't see the full components until January.
It will be a great first week. Just take a breath and it will all work out.
Here is the article in the Herald. Read it. Herald

Skating on thin ice
How could that happen? The Heat Magic game was cancelled because the floor was too slick. First it was reported that the ice from the Lightning game the night before was not covered properly. Now we hear that someone put oil on the floor. Guess the game was not meant to be. It will make next week's home opener even more exciting.
Mike Miller will now be out 3 months until January after having thumb surgery today. Rumor has it that Jerry Stackhouse tried out today. They are looking for a short term solution until Mike returns. Get better soon Mike.

Double your pleasure!
The Heat had a pre-season loss tonight to the ATL Hawks. Double Double for LeBron and Bosh. I think we will see many of those nights. If DWade also gets a double double is that an official "triple double double"? Sounds like a scoop of ice cream at Jaxson's (great ice cream store here in So. Fla).
Big news, however, is the injury to Mike Miller. He hurt his thumb in practice getting it caught in the players jersey. I am no doctor but I find that the less the team says, the worse the injury is. First you hear 6 weeks. Than you hear "not season ending". I think it's bad and they are just waiting for the MRI to confirm.
This creates new roster scenarios if Miller is out for a while. I think decisions are going to be made at the last minute. Teams are starting to cut players so the Heat will be scouring the waiver wires to see if there is another pure scorer out there who can just sit in the corner, wait for LeBron or DWade to penetrate and dish, and drain the 3.
It will be an interesting next 24-48 hours.

Party Time on South Beach!
My sources tell me, yes, I have sources, that Jay-Z Jis having a poolside party tonite at the Delano for his memoir. LBJ will most likely be there but not 100% sure. Event is sponsored by Bing, the Microsoft search engine.
In other news, Heat trimmed their roster down to 16 needing to let one more go before opening night. DaSean, Jamal are anxiously awaiting the news.

MMMMM, MMMMMM, Good!
We are 1 week until opening night. Roster cuts...Where is D-Wade...League Envy... All good questions. But here is something MORE important. New food items at the American Airlines Arena!!!!!
First there was an article about Glatt Kosher Food now being served. That is food fit for the more religious Jews who might attend games. A nice touch.
Then....this from the Sun-Sentinel. More Gourmet foods at games including:
Veggie burger ($8): The (on the dry side) patties are made with brown rice, beets and other veggies, and are topped with cheddar and spicy barbecue sauce. Served on a rustic whole wheat bun.
Asian wraps ($10): These generous wraps start with a scallion pancake that's closer to a French crepe. Filling choices include coconut marinated chicken, tofu and eggplant marinated in Asian barbecue sauce, or pork belly braised in Asian broth.
Chicken empanada ($10): Flaky pastries are stuffed with sweet barbecue and served with plantain chips and mint lime cream dipping sauce. "Next year I'm going to do a foie gras empanada," joked Chopin.
Rojo taco ($10): Filled with either chipotle marinated beef, ancho chile marinated chicken or citrus braised pork shoulder, they are guaranteed to fill you up.
Burritos ($12): Fans of Chipotle Mexican Grill will love these flour tortillas wrapped around either beef, chicken or pork along with pinto beans, pico de gallo and white rice.
Asian noodles ($12): Spicy Thai Chicken or BlazinBeef lo mein noodles are served in Chinese take-out containers with disposable chopsticks on the side.
It's not just about the Basketball anymore. It's about our tummies!!!

Oopsies Cleveland!
Someone has got to lose their job over this. Seems that the 2011 Cleveland Cavs calendar has LeBron James on the cover. Now, everyone in the entire freaking world new he was a free agent. So someone in the organization, hopefully before he made his decision, bet a whole lot that LeBron was staying. I can't imagine it happened after he decided but you never know. Either way, there are a lot of 2011 Cavs calendars with limited edition LeBron pictures on them. Get yours now!

Thanks D-Wade
Twitter has been all abuzz tonight as D-Wade has been giving out his tickets for tomorrow night's exhibition game. He has been asking questions and first responders have gotten tickets. I never thought I would be so enraptured with Twitter but courtside seats, even in pre-season, are amazing. Have not won but have enjoyed the experience of answering questions from today's best NBA player.

Cavs don't speak Russian!
Sorry about that Cleveland. Losing to CSKA Moscow? Not sure what division they are in but losing to a European team is not a good way to get the season started.
Anyway...LeBron is back at practice and taking names. DWade probably out until the opener in Boston. 9 Days to go!

10 days to go!
The excitement of the pre-season has definitely waned. DWade still nursing the sore hammy. LeBron sitting out the next game vs. Charlotte. I think all systems are targeting opening night in Boston. I think things will start to crescendo by next weekend and opening night will be getting closer and closer. Go Heat!

Who's Happy?
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade
Miami Heat small forward LeBron James (left) and shooting guard Dwyane Wade (right) during warmups prior to tipoff against the New Orleans Hornets at the New Orleans Arena.
Take that Mr. Q rating!
Congrats to LeBron for being named a 40 under 40 for business leaders. Hope that helps his "q" rating! Next game is Monday the 18th vs. Charlotte Bobcats. Think we will ever see the real line-up? My guess is that they will hold Wade out as long as possible with the start of the season in Boston on the 26th.

Americans beat Russians!!!!
Well....at least the Heat beat CSKA Moscow tonight. 96-85. LeBron and Bosh lead the way. Onto New Orleans to face the Hornets. Can't wait for #3 to return.

2 games this week
The Heat have 2 pre-season games this week. Tomorrow night vs. CSKA Moscow and on Wednesday against the New Orleans Hornets. Roster cuts starting to happen. Need to get down to 15 before opening night.

Moscow comes to Miami
Pre-season loss in San Antonio tonight. Showcase for the end of bench players. LeBron with 12 points in 12 minutes. Next game is Tuesday at Home verse CSKA Moscow. Looking for a scouting report on-line. Not sure if I will find one.
Not very "Bosh"-ful
Very nice performance in KC. Bosh led the scorers with 23. Wonderful stroke from the outside. Adds another dimension of a big body with a huge range. Could definitely help open the lane from DWade and LeBron to penetrate. LeBron was his usual greatness and they came away with a victory. Looked like a great crowd in KC. A lot of energy. Next game at home vs the Ruskies!

Kansas City here we come!
The Heat play their next "home" game in Kansas City on Friday Night. Twitter is all abuzz about things to do in KC. Don't they know about Google? I know it's nice to involve the local fans but a quick search produced many a result. The team needs to start paring down the roster. Look for more fringe players to get some playing time so they are properly evaluated.

LeBron James, M.D.
LeBron has tweeted the following tonight: Don't worry Heat fans, @dwadeofficial will be just ok.
Glad the team doctor is on top of the case.

Great start
A nice victory for a newly created team. Little concerned about the DWade injury. We'll just have to wait and find out the extent. LeBron looked great in White! Some amazing plays. Bosh showed up and looked great as well. Let's just skip the pre-season and get to the real season!
Tip-off in just over 2 hours!
The most excitement for a pre-season game EVER! The whole nation is checking in on all forms of media. You can't miss this event!
Heat starting line-up for tonight:
Point Guard - Carlos Arroyo
Center - Joel Anthony
Some other guys fill out the roster.......wait a minute......oh year. #'s 1-3-6!

Pay per View anyone??
This is what Kobe had to say...
While in London, England preparing for the Los Angeles Lakers' first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant made it perfectly clear that if he played the Miami Heat's LeBron James in a one on one matchup, he would emerge victorious.
I’d win, I’d win," Bryant responded after a fan asked him who he thought would win in a one on one matchup with James. "That’s what I do. One on one is..that’s easy for me, you know. Playing one on one is how I grew up playing, it’s like my thing. LeBron is more like a Magic Johnson, he’s a great passer and plays an all around game. At the core of me, I’m a one on one player. I’d do that in my sleep."
Anyone out there this would not sell out on pay per view??? I would take LeBron in a heartbeat!

It's just the beginning
Boston.com is reporting that an important debate has been changed due to the Heat-Celtics opening night game in Beantown. I think it's just the beginning of what is about to take place. People will start looking at the Heat schedule, when they arrive in town, and make adjustments. This is the first.

Heat break camp
It's all over at Eglin and now the Heat return home. They are looking ahead to their first game on Tuesday vs the Pistons. Set the Tivo as it will be on NBA TV. They will probably enjoy playing someone else other then themselves.

We Who Dare
The motto of the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base.
Why do I think this might become the slogan for this year's Heat team as well? Remember 15 strong?
I think "We Who Dare" sums up all that has taken place for the Heat this summer. What a true honor to be at that Air Force Base with those brave soldiers. Brilliant.

Let the games begin!
Tomorrow kicks off Heat training camp as they begin their journey to this year's (and many more) NBA championship. Today was Heat Media day. It was held at the Bank United Center on the University of Miami Campus which I found interesting. Within the slew of many questions I found this interesting. Coach Spoelstra was asked if DWade and LeBron will scrimmage against each other or with each other? Interesting question. Do you go with "develop chemistry"? or "create a hard working environment"? Either way, it's a win win as will a lot of games this year will be.
Keep checking back.
Keep checking back.

For all the Whiners!!
Caught this article today. For all the people whining about the Heat and their big stars, looks like teams will actually take advantage of the Heat games in their home towns by jacking up the prices. Check out this article here. Article.
It's nice to complain and all but don't be surprised when teams find ways to make money off the Heat coming to town.

6 Days
The countdown continues. Excitement is building. Erick Dampier in town and meeting with the HEAT today. Looks like another potential center for their line-up. Can you feel it building???
7 days
Only 7 days until the HEAT begin training at Eglin Air Force Base. Udonis Haslem on the airwaves in South Florida promoting a charity event this weekend. Did you know he only gets 3 tickets to the Home games? I can't imagine LeBron only getting 3 tickets.

Who needs a point guard?
Check out this post from Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel. Here What's the big deal with no point guard. How about point-forward. How about center-point. Call it whatever you'd like. The Heat almost beat the Celtics in last year's playoffs with Dwyane Wade and a cast of nobody's. Now look at what they have.
Brilliant!
Miami Heat 2010 traning camp announced
In another brilliant move by Pat Riley, the Heat announced they will hold training camp at Eglin Air Force base beginning on September 28th. It's a win-win-win (as many wins as you'd like) situation. Honor the military. Keep the media at bay. Us against them. Red, White and Blue. Maybe we can get some good pr materials with the Heat on some tanks or Hummers.
Either way, the next in line of many brilliant moves by this team this off season.
8 days until camp begins. You know you can't wait.
